Abstract
Introduction: global rating system system is applicable, faster in time and easily handled.Butthe student may receive different scores by different assessors and it possibly led to different scores if repeated. This study is done to design and compare psychometric properties of the checklist for clinical skills assessment of dental students in removable partial denture course and evaluate the rater’s and student’s satisfaction about it.
Materials & Methods: The checklist was analyzed by expert panel while the view points of the scientific member of staff was analyzed and applied in the designed checklist.The content validity of the checklist was measured by lawshe.Then, reliability of the checklist itself and reliability of the assessros was determined by test re test.The satisfaction rate of the scientific member of staff and the students about the checklist was also measured using a 5-scaled instruments.
Results: The satisfaction rate of the students and scientific member of staff was also high about the designed checklist; however, member of staff showed higher satisfaction than the students.The staff showed the highst satisfaction on the item (To what degree, the checklist is successful not to be affected of the staff’s personal views in scoring?) with the mean score of 4.6 while they gave the least satisfaction on the item (To what degree, the checklist is applicable to the assessors?) With the mean score of 3.0.
Conclusion: Conclusion Due to the validity and reliability of the checklist and the satisfaction of students and professors, it seems that the designed checklist can be used to evaluate students in this course.
