Abstract

Introduction: Interest in the field of study and having the desired quality of clinical training will lead to more appropriate job performance. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between the quality of clinical education and students' interest in their field of study in rehabilitation faculties in Hamadan University of medical science and University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences.
Materials & Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on )306( students of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, technical orthopedics, speech therapy and Audiology in two rehabilitation faculties of Hamadan University of Medical Science and University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences. Self-report questionnaire included demographic information, questionnaire of interest to the field of study (α =0.713) and the quality of clinical education (α = 0.930). Data were analyzed by SPSS 23.
Results: The mean age of students was (21.83 ± 1.09) years. Students were (177(female (59.6%) and (120(male (40.4%). Mean quality of clinical education was in Hamadan University (52.92±11.98)   , Tehran University (53.99 ± 11.48), and not significant between the
two groups (p>0.05).The highest influential sub-category in the quality of clinical education was area of educational environment (11.66± 3.20). There was a significant and negative relationship between interest in the field of study with goals and educational program, dealing with students, monitoring and evaluation (p <0.01).
Conclusion: The level of quality of clinical education in both faculties was moderate and desirable. Regarding to the negative relationship between the quality of clinical education and interest in the field of study, further studies and attention to review in clinical education is recommended.
