Abstract
Introduction: The concept of mentorship involves a process wherein an accomplished mentor guides another individual, encouraging the transfer of knowledge and skills and also nurturing personal development. Focusing on the training methods of distinguished mentors in Islamic education provides a valuable pattern for training specialists for Muslims.
Materials and Methods: In this regard, we discussed the attitude of some distinguished mentors in Islamic education, including Imam Sadiq and prominent mystics like Junaid Baghdadi, Bayazid Bastami, and Najmuddin Kobri, as well as esteemed educators including Mohammad Hossein Naieani, Mohammad Hossein Tabatabai, Morteza Motahari, Seyedah Nosrat Amin, the second martyr, and Molla Mohsen Feiz Kashani.
Results: Imam Sadiq (a.s.) trained students in various fields of science according to the student’s talents. Junaid Baghdadi, Bayazid Bastami, and Najmuddin Kobra gained the power of influence through self-improvement. Imam Khomeini (RA) emphasized the self-purification before education and paid particular attention to moral, political, and scientific education in mentorship. According to Mohammad Hossein Nayini, Mohammad Hossein Tabatabai, and Morteza Motahari, the scientific and moral characteristics of a teacher are important prerequisites of mentorship. Based on their opinion, an inspiring teacher should have outstanding personal, social, and educational characteristics. Also, Mrs. Seyyedah Nusrat Amin, the second martyr, and Mola Mohsen Faiz Kashani commented on the two issues of scientific and moral education.
Conclusion: In summary, the purification of self is considered principal for mentors, who must prioritize the holistic development of learners, encompassing individual, social, moral, political, and scientific dimensions tailored to their abilities.
