Abstract

Introduction: Academic performance is very important in the educational system. Cultural intelligence and emotional intelligence are important and influential factors on academic performance. The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the relationship between cultural intelligence and emotional intelligence with academic performance in nursing students of Azad

Materials & Methods: The present study is a descriptive study based on the structural equation test, a cross-sectional study in terms of time, and a survey in terms of data collection. The statistical population of this study consisted of 260 nursing students of Ahvaz Azad University in the academic year of 2023-2024. The sample size was determined to be 152 people using Morgan's table. The method of selecting statistical samples in this research was simple random. The research data collection tool was Ang et al.'s standard cultural intelligence questionnaire, Goleman's emotional intelligence and Pham & Taylor's academic performance. Data analysis was done with SPSS and PLS statistical software at two levels of descriptive statistics and inferential statistics.
Results: The results obtained from the structural equation test to investigate the effect of cultural intelligence and emotional intelligence on academic performance showed that the indirect path coefficient value was equal to 0.337 and the t-statistic value was equal to 4.883 and the significance level was obtained equal to 0.000 . These values show that the indirect relationship between emotional intelligence and academic performance through cultural intelligence is statistically significant.

Conclusion: According to the results obtained in the present study, Students who have higher emotional intelligence have a greater desire to develop their cultural intelligence and, as a result, achieve better academic performance
