Abstract
Introduction: The most common method of educational evaluation is taking an exam, which usually results in anxiety. Exam anxiety has a negative impact on students' success and career prospects. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the level of exam anxiety among students of the Zahedan School of Nursing and Midwifery.
Materials & Methods: The present study is a descriptive-analytical and cross-sectional study that was conducted in 1403 using the Sarason Test Anxiety Questionnaire on 255 nursing students of the Zahedan School of Nursing and Midwifery. The results were analyzed using SPSS-22 software and using t-test and ANOVA tests, followed by post hoc tests.
Results: The results of the present study showed that the average test anxiety of students was moderate to high (20/60±6/03). The highest level of test anxiety was in nursing students (19/61 ±4/12) and the lowest level was in emergency medical students (11/11 ±4/24). In addition, there was a significant relationship between the level of anxiety of students and some demographic variables such as gender, field of study and academic year. (p≤0.05)
Conclusion Test anxiety is a common phenomenon and a major concern of educational systems around the world, which can have a negative impact on students' success during the educational process. Therefore, using all preventive or mitigating measures can be important and useful.
