Abstract

Introduction: Education in medical sciences requires evolution and progress and the use of new methods. Traditional learning through lectures alone does not meet the needs and challenges of students. Therefore the present study was designed and implemented with the aim of investigating the effectiveness of video-based training.
Materials & Methods:  This action research study was conducted on 40 students of the 2nd semester of operating room nursing of Azad university of Hamadan in 2024. Students were selected by census method. The demographic information questionnaire was completed by the students and the pre-test was done by them. In the next step, an educational video was designed and performed for students, and along with the video, educational and supplementary tips were presented. Then the post-test was taken. About 2 weeks after the post-test ,a survey questionnaire was completed regarding students’ satisfaction with the educational video. At the end, the data was analyzed using SPSS software version 23 .
Results: In the present study, the frequency of males was 12(30%) and the frequency of females was 28(70%). The mean and standard deviation of the students’ age was 22.27±3.96 with a range of 19 to 37 years. The mean and standard deviation of students’ average was 17.16±1.40 with a range of 19.41 to 14. The mean and standard deviation of the number of times surgical hand scrub is 3.44±1.70 with a range of 0 to 20. According to the data of the study, it was observed that there is a statistically significant difference between the average scores of the pre-test and post-test in the samples (P<0.001).
Conclusion: Considering that it was observed that the use of educational videos has a positive effect on students’ learning and teaching, and also, students had a great desire to present other courses in this way. Therefore, it is recommended to increase the use of this educational method in providing courses for medical students.
