Abstract
Introduction: Today, one of the important priorities in nursing is maintaining patient safety, and ensuring patient safety has become a major challenge. The aim of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of holding a training course on common disease management on medication errors among nurses at Akbar Children's Hospital.

Materials & Methods: This Single-group quasi-experimental study was conducted on 27 nurses from different departments of Akbar Children's Hospital. Each nurse underwent specialized training from the responsible professor in the field of a common disease, focusing on drug information in the relevant department, for three months (total of 18 hours). In order to measure nurses' knowledge in the field of patient medication information, a questionnaire was prepared from the topics discussed and the average score of nurses before and after training was reported. Also, to examine the effect of training on the rate of nursing errors, the nursing error questionnaire of Lili Brimnejad &et al. was used.

Results: The average age of the participating nurses was 35.70 (8.70), the average work experience was 9.89 years, and most of the participants were female (74.1%). The average knowledge score of the nurses after the intervention was significantly higher than before the intervention (P=0.0001). The findings showed that age, gender, work experience, sector of activity, and employment status were not significantly associated with knowledge scores and medication errors before and after the intervention (P>0.05).

Conclusion: Holding a training course on common disease management in a small sample of nurses was able to reduce their error scores and increase nurses' awareness in the field of drug management of common diseases. On the other hand, the level of knowledge and errors of nurses was not related to age, gender, work experience, sector of activity, and employment status.
