Abstract
Introduction: Research has direct and indirect effects on the development of human life. Therefore, in recent years, among the societies, the research status of countries has been one of the most important criteria in growth and evaluation, and the study of factors affecting the attitude to research is essential.
Materials & Methods: This is a descriptive study that was conducted in the academic year 1397-1397 in the medical school of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences and 274 people were randomly selected using stratified sampling. The data collection tool is Papanastasio questionnaire and based on it Information was collected and entered in Spss software.
Results: Gender (with a significance level of 0.001) and membership in the research committee (with a significance level of 0.014) have a significant effect on attitude towards research, but the average (with a significance level of 0.523) has an effect on attitude It does not have research. Regarding students' attitudes toward research in terms of gender, the components of "lack of research anxiety", "positive attitude towards research" and "fit with daily life", girls scored higher than boys.
Conclusion: The significance of the difference between girls and boys shows the effect of gender on students' attitudes. Average did not show a significant effect on attitudes toward research. However, membership in the Student Research Committee significantly improved the attitude towards student research, which could be due to the mediating variable of interest of more students in the Student Research Committee.
