Background and Objective: Organizational socialization is a vital process in effectively integrating new members with the values, norms, and required behaviors of the organization. The aim of this study was to design and implement an organizational socialization program for new faculty members at Zanjan University of Medical Sciences based on the Deming management cycle.
Materials and Methods: This mixed-methods (quantitative and qualitative) study was conducted in 2021-2022. The faculty member socialization program (JAHD) was designed and implemented at Zanjan University of Medical Sciences, utilizing the Deming cycle and ADDIE model principles. The Kirkpatrick model was used to evaluate the outcomes. Data collection was performed through self-report questionnaires, the reliability of which was assessed using Cronbach's alpha (0.86 for managers and 0.89 for faculty members), and the validity of which was assessed through expert opinions. The research sample included 73 new faculty members and education managers of the university, who were selected by convenience sampling. Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 21 software.
Findings: The "JAHD" program was developed and implemented to socialize new faculty members. This program included sections on familiarization with the university structure, rules and regulations, the Transformation and Innovation Plan in Medical Sciences, and administrative processes. In addition, online and offline workshops were part of this program. The evaluation results of the "JAHD" program from the perspective of new faculty members and education managers indicated higher-than-average satisfaction in both groups.
Conclusion: The results of this research emphasize the importance and effectiveness of targeted organizational socialization programs in academic environments, especially universities of medical sciences. Implementing such programs leads to increased satisfaction and productivity of new faculty members, strengthens the organizational structure, and improves the quality of educational and research activities of the university.
