  •  Ethical considerations for writing

HMED is a member of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and follows its guidelines. For authorship, all four of the following criteria must be met simultaneously:

  • The author must contribute effectively and significantly in at least one subcategory of study design or research idea or data analysis and interpretation or data collection.
  • The author must cooperate in preparing the draft of the manuscript or in its revision or fundamental revision so that the manuscript is exposed to the improvement and change of the scientific content. The scientific qualification required for the basic examination is required with regard to scientific experience and work or academic experience.
  • The authors of the final version must be read and approved before publication.
  • The author must respond to all aspects of conducting the study resulting in the manuscript, such as the responsibility of following the general and specific guidelines of research ethics in conducting, designing and publishing the manuscript. Authors should either have conducted different studies according to technical, scientific, ethical criteria and different standards, or they should be sure of the integrity and scientific ability of those who have done different stages of the study.
  • Removing the name of the person or persons with the above four criteria for authorship (ghost author is not accepted. - You cannot add the name of a person or persons who do not meet these criteria for authorship (guest author).
  • All authors have a legal and moral responsibility to ensure that the names of the people whose names are written among the authors meet the criteria for authorship, or if they do not have these criteria for authorship, their names are removed from the list of authors.
  • The requirement to have writing criteria is also true for multi-member research teams, and only being a member of a research group or being an individual in a research project does not create the criteria required for writing. They can participate as authors even if they no longer work with that research team or center.
  • In the manuscript extracted from theses, the authors, including supervisors, advisors, relevant students, etc., must meet all of these writing criteria.
  • Merely cooperating in financing and preparing research, providing advice such as methodological and statistical advice, providing or creating laboratory facilities, performing experimental procedures on research samples or patients, or introducing and referring patients to researchers is not a criterion of authorship. even if the said people have not received a fee for providing these services.
  • All people who collaborate in the implementation, design, support or other phases of the research, but do not meet all the criteria mentioned for authorship, should be mentioned in the "Acknowledgments" section.
  • Those who are editors or translators of a manuscript do not have the criterion of authorship. Such cases can be mentioned in the "acknowledgment" section.
